Essential Oils and Romance! By Jacque McLaughlin

Essential Oils and Romance!

Jacque McLaughlin

It's that time of year again. Romance is in the forefront of many couples' minds as Valentine’s Day approaches, but why not spice up the bedroom all the time?  Using the right essential oils, you can boost your libido, gain confidence, and bring the spark back to the bedroom!

Using oils in the diffuser is amazing for emotions. If you need a little confidence or help to get in the mood, your diffuser is going to be your BEST friend.

When you inhale oils, the essential oil molecules travel through the olfactory bulb and trigger the limbic system in the center of the brain. The amygdala is stimulated, which is the center of our sexual drive. This is why diffusing aphrodisiac oils can work fast and well. If you have kids or a busy schedule, the window for romance is often small and you need to get excited fast.  This is sometimes easier said than done.

Applying oils topically is another option. You can apply them to vitaflex points for the male and female reproductive systems: the outer right ankle for the female reproductive system and outer left ankle for the male reproductive system. The vitaflex point for the brain (which is often our worst enemy) is the thumb of the hand and big toe of the foot.

Other places are fair game as well. Don't think too hard about it. No matter where you apply them, they will absorb into your skin and you are good to go.

NOTE: Anytime you are using an oil for the first time, dilute it with a carrier oil* and apply it to your forearm to see how you respond. If it makes your skin red, you either need to dilute it further or avoid that essential oil.

Never use UNDILUTED HOT oils (Thieves, Lemongrass, Peppermint, and Panaway) on sensitive membranes. This will quickly ruin an intimate moment. If you feel heat, just apply MORE carrier oil* to the area and that tingly/hot sensation should pass.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can take advantage of some of those tingly oils (Peppermint, Black Pepper) and have a little fun. Just make sure you dilute them.

*Carrier oils include any fatty oil: olive oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil…

Young Living oils are PURE, which means they are GRAS - Generally Regarded As Safe for consumption. They even have a full line of “Vitality” oils, labeled distinctly for internal use. The regular line has directions for aromatic and topical uses. In fact, Lemon oil and Lemon vitality are the SAME oil with different labeling and directions. SAME oil, DIFFERENT label. You can use all of them for internal consumption. Of course, if you are not comfortable using oils for internal consumption, that's perfectly fine! Topical and aromatic uses are great options.
